June is Bloomin'

It's Bloomin' Tuesday !  After you're done scrolling through here, head over to MsGreenThumbJean's blog (who so kindly hosts this event every week) to see a multitude of blooms and gardens
June is here and the gorgeous weather continues along with more early blooming!   The past few years we didn't get warm weather until the end of June.  This year we've had it for over a month.  I can only hope that it makes our short summer season feel much longer.

I am so thankful to have discovered blogging.  Last year I took random pictures of our gardens and saved them all in a folder called 'Our Yard'.... no dates, no description, NADA..... not so helpful when trying to determine what to improve.  Well not this year!  Plus I've met some new gardening friends and discovered many fantastic gardening blogs - bonus!

The garden at the back of the pool.  Snow in Summer is still blooming, a pink Lupine is peaking through the fence and Moss Rose is just getting started (2 views, one from each end):

Lupines (I wish these looked this good every year) :

More Lupines... and our 'helper', Bubbs.  He loves to lie down where ever we're working, you know, to do us a huge favor in allowing us to pet him.  I know, he's just thinking of us and how much we need a break from all that work:

The first of the Delphiniums Magic Fountains are blooming.  I lost several over the winter, hopefully some of the intense blues made it.  The second picture is Delphiniums Chinensis planted this year:

Clematis Nelly Moser:  Near and Far (Loostrife, Geranium Rozanne and Siberian Iris in background):

Peachleaf Bellflower - one of my favorites; Geranium Rozanne in background of second pic (another favorite - blooms all summer).  I just noticed in the bottom left there is another lupine blooming - I didn't even notice it was there!  As soon as I finish this post, I'm going to go check that baby out:

Side garden, different views.  Lots of blooming here - Dianthus Ideal Mix, Peachleaf Bellflower, Delphiniums Magic Fountains, Knockout Rose, Veronica (which usually does terribly for me - I was going to tear it out this year. Guess it knew what was coming and decided to straighten up and put on a good show).  Please ignore the messy clover in the lawn.  We didn't have time to mow:

Foxglove, Pansies & some kind of Climbing Rose.  I have absolutely no idea what kind.  I planted it in front of our house 7 or 8 years ago and it didn't do well.  Those were the days when I just bought plants and stuck them in the ground.  (This was me:  What do you mean they need good soil?  What does that have to do with the plant dying??)  I learned the hard way how important good soil is for healthy, happy plants.  I moved the roses two years ago and they are much happier:

Just a different view.  This garden is on the outside of the pool fence:

This garden is at the back of the pool & behind the pool fence.  Gaillardia blooms opened over the weekend; KnockOut Rose behind it:

The shady side of the house garden.  Fringed Bleeding Hearts are still blooming (these will bloom most of the summer); Lady's Mantle, Blue and White Spiderwort are blooming now also:

Here's an overview pic of the back yard gardens.  I love to see close up of blooms, but also like to show the overall gardens so the 'scheme of things' can be seen.  In the distance is our veggie garden:

And the shady side of the house garden:

Here are the gardens in front of the house.   The railing on our side is smothered in Clematis Jackmanii.  There are tons of buds on it - it is gorgeous when it finally blooms.  We had planted Clematis Niobe on the other railing, but it just doesn't like it there.  This year we planted two Jackmanii - we'll see how it looks in a few years:

Hope you enjoyed the garden tour!  Thanks so much for stopping by

Wow your garden is gorgeous! Welcome to the blogging community, this is my second year and I've loved all the wonderful people I have met. I envy those Lupines, they don't do well here, so I'll just have to enjoy yours. :)

Tracy, your garden is magnificant and that it an understatement!

We have the same taste in garden design and flower choices, so I love looking at your pictures.

In the picture of 'Foxglove, Pansies & some kind of Climbing Rose', it looks like lychnis in the foreground that is almost in bloom. Am I correct? That is one of my favourites.

And your lupines are beautiful....I don't have any of those yet, but I must get some.

Oh, and every garden should have a tabbycat in it!

Hi Diane - So great to hear from you again! Yes, those are definitely Lychnis in the background. Two years ago I had 8 plants and OMG, do they self sow!! I have at least 60 spread around my yard this year, had to throw out twice that amount. I can't wait for them to bloom. They are one of my favs too - will definitely be posting pics for you. ;^)

LOL - you're right about the cat, although it would be nice if he would leave his presents (ie: unfortunate critters) in the woods instead of on our walkways every day.

Your yard is fabulous. The lupine are scrumptious! Love the bellflower too, but everything is lovely!

There's nothing wrong with clover in the lawn. Just don't call attention to it as if it were somehow a bad thing. People with clover usually don't use pesticides, a good thing.

Oh my. This is my first visit and won't be the last. Wow - what beautiful gardens you have. I am so in love with your lupines. Beautiful beds and I like seeing the big picture of your gardens. I have the same clover but now that it's gotten so hot the clover isn't so obvious. I am mowing my lawn once a week now. The grass is growing fast. Have a good day. Becca

Love your Lupine. Ours didn't do very well this year. I'm hoping it is an every other year thing.+

WOW - gorgeous lupines, I love them! Thanks for the tour of the garden. HA, loved the part about planting things anywhere and not keeping track of soil requirements ~ I do the same thing!! But, now I'm learning to take note of what I'm buying, where it would go, etc.

Take Care~
