After a gorgeous Memorial Day weekend, I picked today after work to take some pics - after a rain storm. Brilliant idea..... The mosquitos almost carried me away, but I was able to make a turbo pass through the yard.
And here we go.... it's a long one folks. So much is blooming already - this is not normal for Massachusetts so I was unable to contain myself and keep it short.
I was very excited to find two lady slippers growing in my yard this year. One is pink, the other almost white - never seen one like that before:
Clematis Multi Blue:
Clematis Nelly Moser :
Bearded Iris - no idea what kind, was given to me years ago:
Alchemilla Lady's Mantle on the verge of blooming - love the raindrops on the leaves:
Clematis Betty Corning:
This section of garden is in the front yard - Clematis Betty Corning & Geranium Johnson's Blue are blooming right now. There are only a few blooms on Betty Corning - and they are small - so you can't really see them here:
A few more pics of front gardens: Salvia May Night, Pansies, Dianthus Garden Spice and Geranium Johnson's Blue. I love May Night and keep meaning to buy more for the backyard gardens but I haven't done it yet. Hmm, maybe this weekend:
Campanula Persicifolia Peach Leaf Bellflower bloomed today! These bloom for a long time if you dead head - tedious job to snip off each individual dead head, but so worth it:
Geranium Rozanne just starting; Peachleaf Bellflower behind the fence and mounds of Dianthus Ideal Mix in the bed across the yard (Can barely see more Peachleaf Bellfower & Foxglove blooming there also):
Circle Flower (which migrated itself from the other side of the fence over the past two years), Clematis Multi Blue & Nelly Moser, Siberian Iris:
Clematis Nelly Moser from the other side of the fence :
Coral Bells Firefly still blooming - they will bloom for quite a long time. The hummingbirds love them too:
Here's a view of the same garden from the 2nd floor deck - this is the entrance to the pool area:
This is not a bloom, but is a memorial to my nephew that is set in the bricks to the left of the pool entrance gate (can barely see it in the picture above). We lost him to injuries from a car accident 7 years ago. He was 7 years old:
Garden by the gate that leads from the front of the house to the back yard. Roses & Wine Weigela on the left side of the walk; on the right top is Fringed Bleeding Heart
The lawn chair doesn't really belong there, but it's shady there for most of the day so that is my in-between-garden-chore rest spot. It will move back to it's poolside home soon:
These are the views from the lawn chair.... another reason why I love to sit here:
Garden on side of yard with Dianthus Ideal Mix, Peachleaf Bellflower, Pansies and one lonely Foxglove blooming:
Same garden from the deck:
Pink Foxgove:
Pink Lupine (yay pink! Last year I had very little pink in the garden):
Lupines - Purple with cool pink/magenta mixed in. These grew from seed I threw here two years ago (same with the pink one above). My lupines have never looked this good (like a lot of my flowers this year - thank you mild winter / very warm & wet spring!):
Snow in Summer is a little beat from the rain, but it's still blooming (another plant having it's best year ever in my yard). Lavendar Blue Scent is planted behind it and should be blooming soon.
I found those torches at a bargain store in my area (Ocean State Job Lot) - they match the planters and look SO cool at night when they're lit and the light reflects off the pool. Alright, I can't help myself again - I'm adding a picture of that too:

Your lawn and garden areas look fabulous! The colors are so intense after a rain. I don't have the peachleaf bellflower but will add it to my list of wants! Happy Bloomin' Tuesday! Jean
LOVE seeing how your gardens are arranged (and not just the closeups.) There are so many beautiful things I want to comment on, but my faves are that last border (LOVE white and green), the bellflower, which looks white on my screen, and the salvia. Just all over gorgeous! I'm a new follower!
What beautiful pictures. Your garden is absolutely gorgeous!
Oh my gosh. Your yard and gardens are very beautiful. You have done a lot of hard work there. I will look forward to more pictures. I especially like your front walkway area. Well done!
Thanks so much everybody! I'm a newbie - just started to blog a few months ago and really looking forward to 'meeting' other people here. :-) I love checking out everyone else's gardens!
What a gorgeous yard. Love this post.
Tracy, What an awesome yard, garden and pool area! WOW! Love your lupine - I have never seen lupine purple/pink/magenta mix before - how lovely! The ladyslipper and your clematis are gorgeous too. Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I'm glad I discovered yours! I will definitely be back!
Tracy, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog so I could find you! Your yard/garden is gorgeous! We grow very similar plants...I have that no name iris too and your Multi-Blue clematis is to die for! My passion is daylilies...do you have a collection? Btw, it took a really long time to load your page~if you resize your photos before posting, it might help...
Lynn
Lynn, I only have a few daylilies - Stella d'Oro and Happy Returns. Would love to add other colors besides yellow someday. Can't wait to see pics of your collection! Thanks so much for the tip on my picture size & load time. I will have to play around with that. :)
Beautiful!!! I love the lupines! I wonder if I can grow them in TN?
Hi Tracy,
What a great yard you have. Thanks for sharing those landscape views. I love seeing where all the gardens are located in your yard.
Those white campanula are gorgeous. I just came from another blog with the same flower. I can't get over how pure white they are.
I am also lovin' those clematis--actually I love it all! You've done a great job!
your garden is beautiful and i love your pictures! i wish mine would post as large...i especially love the clematis, lupine and foxglove....well and your pinks :-)

Wow, Tracy,
By looking at your gardens and photos, I wouldn't have guessed you were new at gardening or blogging. Your blog and gardens are beautiful! One blessing about having lots of rocks, I'm thinking, is that you probably have pretty good drainage. I have to add stuff so my clay won't be so hard.
Thanks for stopping by. I found the name of the clematis. It's 'Purpurea Plena Elegans'. I thought there was a common name for it, but I couldn't find it.
Happy gardening and blogging! I'm obsessed, too.
